Hi all

Question regarding electrical test certificate signatures section. I have noticed that on test certs now that they have 3 sections for signatures.
1 - for design
2 - for install
3 - for inspect

now if you are working to drawings that were supplied to you by a building firm or a main contractor. Who signs the design section of the test cert. Some electricians have said if you installed it you designed it. Which my thinking is you are going off there drawings so should be signed by them. Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance

Drawings showing accessory positions etc are to the architects drawings and are not part of the design. Now if you have a specification telling you what cable sizes to use, what ways they are connected to in the DB and what circuits are required and what accessories and switchgear to install and a written installation specification, then this is the design part. It will specify who has designed it, they must sign the design part of the EIC. If you are specifying and selecting the switchgear, cable sizes etc then you are the designer.
