I hope Marvo don't mind me knicking this thread as he closed, but I opened this in the Arms so again hope it is OK.

My point is the Salary part 26K a year for what they want, in the southeast of England. I'm over here in Saudi and are salaries still this badly reflected.

That equates to after tax at around 10 pound and hour . We are still so under valued as an industry

Its in the Arms so I have no issue as it raises a good debate on salaries etc, I'll let Marvo decide ultimately as this was his baby ;)

Ball park rule of thumb is half your salary K to give hourly rate based on 40hr standard week so more like £12-£13 an hour.

Hi Malcolm

Too many electricians and business men who only want to see a fat profit margin. They know they can, they know people are desperate and in some cases willing to work for that money.

At a site near me, industrial electrician, plc ,atex etc 22K. Unsurprisingly they struggle to get good electricians. Saying that the electrical engineers are only on 30k and they are apprenticeship lads, so good practical skills too!

Cheers

Speaking to a newly qualified spark I know
Guy is early 20's but really good- had been running jobs for his boss as an apprentice, now qualified he asked for an increase to a sparks rate to be met with less than enthusiasm.
People dont know when they have a good spark...
