What's best practice if running cable from garage out to outside double sockets? I'm re rendering that wall and thought it'd be nice if I could hide the cable under/within the render...

Is it possible / allowable within "the code"? With or without conduit? Does it need to be armoured cable?

i would probably use swa with outdoor glands.
if you use 5 core it may be possible to run a 32A ring by using 3 cores for the out leg and 2 core and swa for return leg.

Thanks James. Wasn't sure I underatood fully (it's all. Pretty new to me) but had a brain wave this morning... Single cable carrying the out leg and return, the swa provides the earth for return leg (?) is that right?

I was going to run it out as a spur from existing ring main. Guess I'm best extending the ring instead given I'll be using the 5 core swa and distance isn't large either...?

Do permitted zones exist on the outside of a building? I would think they do.
After rendering, no one will know where the cable run is.

How many sockets/ anticipated load? Extending the ring might be too much if you can spur off a fused connection unit.
Cable will be thinner too for render coverage.

OK. Thanks for replies so far. Theyve helped a lot.

So I've got 3 core swa because that's all the spot had in stock, and a metal fused connection box to run a spur off of the existing 2.5mm ring main.

I've just marked possible channels to dig out of the scratch coat to help bury the cable.

Am I right in thinking I need another metal junction box (either buried in or proud of render) that I can then go from there to the switch and put to the wall light.

You'll notice I'm now not going double sockets. Just wall light.

Any warnings, tips or advice?

What box would folk rdcommend? Quick search and find the choice overwhelming and then see T junctions and think maybe that's good... 🙄🤔
