Discuss Failed EICR on concentric feed to DB in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

Evening all,

I found my first ever split concentric cable today. Running from an isolator up and into a flat. I was doing an EICR.

I could not verify where the cable is within the fabric of the building.

I failed the EICR on the grounds that the cable has no mechanical protection, no RCD protection or is even fused down.

I think the cable run is approximately 25 metres from the meter and isolator up into the flat.

Would anyone like to share there thoughts on this outcome?

EICRs don't fail they are satisfactory or unsatisfactory. The only major concern is no circuit protection.

How many flats / meters and how are the meters supplied, split from DNO cut out fuse or from a Ryfield distribution board or similar?

Now here lies your problem. If you introduce circuit protection you are obliged to give it additional protection.
Just hand the Report over and worry about solutions if they require them.
