ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR BUDGET. THE MEGGER 1553 DOES EVERYTHING YOU NEED EXCEPT FOR PHASE ROTATION.

KT63 does ramp testing, bought mine second hand a couple of years ago when I first started with a view to getting better once I could justify the costs......still got it and still like the simplicity of it,passes calibration every year no probs

He’s shouting because he’s got his Bluetooth earphones in thinking that the Bluetooth facility lets him listen to Jeremy vine - he hasn’t a clue but still lives the 1553 AS DO WE ALL!

I rate the meggers but could never stretch my budget that far, i ended up going for a Di-Log. Never let me down and has all the functions you need. Friend of mine got one on an auction site for £200 calibrated and including postage

Evening all... Looking for some advice buying my first MFT - got my inspect amd test after Xmas.

Looking at the usual 2nd hand auction sites (cant afford new) and looking at under 300.

Think i have narrowed it down to-

Kewtech KT64.
Fluke 1653
Metrel MI3000.
Not really looked at megger.

Any opinions - guidance/suggestions? Thanks
If you can stretch the budget have a look at the new Di-Log units the 9110 is great for domestic testing. I went for the 9118 as I do loads of commercial industrial work. These units are fully 18th edition compliant. Build quality and functionality A1 I've been a fluke man in the past not any more. Every sparks has there own preference as to which tester they prefer

I bought a metrel eurotest combo MI3125 for well under 300 direct from metrel including calib cert. It was an ex demonstrator I think but sold with 12 months warranty. Been great..
I only got it ad a back up really as my MI 3100 needed repair. Metrel seem good value but i never used anyone elses..

I have my Megger 1710, Di log clamp meter, Fluke DMM and PRT in the for sale section for less than just the MFT if interested.
