Garden spike lights

Advice on connecting these external lights,they are 230v,with trailing lead,client not accepting a weatherproof socket at each one.Theses will be connected via a swa cable into a ip rated box,my hassle is what to do with the trailing lead,bury it with some protection or leave it on top of garden,risking damage by gardener any thoughts on this.

On top......if the gardener can't work out that the spike lights need lecky they shouldn't be alllowed out with shears!
