At the moment I'm making an electrical course which involves some basic electronics. I have this question from the past papers which I really require some help because I never worked and study on them yet.

Question: Draw and explain a full wave rectifier circuit using a step-down double wound transformer from 220v to 12v, four silicon diodes,components for the smoothing circuit and a thyristor. The thyristor is triggered by a single pole switch. The load connection shall be included in the circuit.

I think most of all that can be googled. TX is one block, rectifier and smoothing would be block 2 and the load switched by thyristor (why when there is a switch anyway) block 3.

For the middle rectification block, google "wheatstone bridge"....replacing resistors with diodes.
