House alarm question

I've bought a new house and I'm basically starting again on it
I want to have a go at wiring the house alarm
Do I take it as a radial circuit to the detectors and split up stairs with down stairs then wire the key pad and the outside box separate
Any advice would be appreciated

All alarms systems are done in away of one out to the detectors (pir)no splinting of the cables causes more problems.

Radial to every point, no point having multiple detectors on the same zone

or use wireless detectors. initial materials outlay is more, but no cable running, no floors and carpets buggered. a hybrid system has keypad and bell hard wired but then has wireless detectors.
