called to look and see if i can sus out why GU10 LED's are exploding all over the guests in bathrooms in the local travelodge, conclusion was cheap and nasty unbranded lamps with an operating voltage of 230 and a measured voltage of 249 maybe not helping

whilst i was there i noticed these fittings are in zone 1 and at 1.9m high and mains voltage, situated in a pelmet above a mirror, are they allowed because its on RCD?, i thought it didnt matter

IP rating IPX4 or even IPX5 if theres water jets

Are these fittings enclosed or do the guests get those vicious glass splinters that can come with the cheapies

Have you seen the location of the sockets above the desk they have in those rooms, think it was about 50mm above, the better half took a pic, if she can find it i will post it up.

not just travelodge guilty of this As for the GU10 thing check the age of the Travelodge as some can have been done in the 60s They also have flouries behind pelmets in bathrooms but outof zone the cheap lamp thing isnt just TL Iv suggested my fav fitting ( Halers) for those who dont know lol ) But as most were built, designed in 70s n 80s 17th doesnt come into it

thats the one, I could not belive what i was seeing, it was the worst design i have ever seen, i think the chippy who made the desks must have designed it.
