I have rang a couple more companies today to try and get some labouring work to gain some site experience and have been told i need my CSCS card.

The problem being that according to the website i need a nvq level 1 or a recommendation from an employer before I can get my card.

I have read the list of criteria for the green labourers card and it's pretty basic.

does anyone have any inexperience of this?

how can i get my card to gain experience if i need experience to gain my card?

cheers for your help

Sam

a CSCS card ( for general operatives to get on site ) is available to anyone who passes the H&S assessment.
a ECS card , of any grading , requires quals / experience of some sort with an electrical bias.

just get the CSCS card , couple of forms to fill in and a simple multi guess exam , around £50 all in.

cheers for the replies guys. just spoke to a very kind lady regarding the ECS who has told me that without any quals i can get a labourers card.

Just been on the phone with a load of companies and have been pleasantly supprised with what they have said - we'll call you if we need you.
