hi all, I'm new to the forum and looking to go self employed as an electrician. I have been employed in the trade for almost 10 years and hold city & guilds 2330 technical certificates levels 1 to 3. and a level 3 nvq in electro technical technology, and the 17th edition update course. after being employed all this time I am looking for advice on what I need to do to become self employed, ie where do I start, do I need a company name, how do I set up tax etc etc, literally what is the path from start to finish. also how would I then sub of other companies? look forward to your advice, many thanks

couple of years ago you had to go to inland revenue office, tell them that you going self employed. maybe you can do it online now, have a look at their website.
you should start getting national insurance bills to pay once you start + tax return to fill every year.
then its about getting enough work for start, first customer, part p registration if needed etc.
