Hi all.

As per title, I rarely get exterior wiring jobs. Dunno if it's because it is generally like the Arctic up here for half the year or other reasons. I don't price many to be fair, but when I do I rarely ever get them. The win rate is much much less than it is normally for me.

I talk these type of jobs up a bit more now so when they get the quote they don't collapse, but still to no avail.

Priced one recently, bonding and RCDs all good. Running a new 20A cct in SWA approx 25m, partly surface clipped partly under (six)slabs (with me doing all the graft). Bottom entry into summerhouse and up to IP box then 3xDSSOs with conduit runs ran externally so no cable on show inside.

I priced it around £340.00 which I think is a decent price for the graft and mats....SWA, glands, stuffers, cleats, breaker, sockets, conduit, IP boxes, etc etc... Does it sound about right? What you reckon?

Oh, and that particular job would have involved three separate site visits due to the external conduit work.

me too, too cheap. £500 seems closer to the mark.

I also agree its too cheep.

Thanks for replies folks.

I was aware that I priced it on the cheap side, but didn't think I was that far out! I worked mats out to be around £90, so thought £250 labour was OK ish. Probably would have took approx 6hrs and then 1.5 and 1.5hrs, so around 9 in total.

Think I will up the price of these type of jobs in the future by a good margin. This was for a fairly long standing client so I was a little surprised it was knocked back. Will probably see a long extension lead traipsing across their garden next time I am there!

Cheers again all.

Hi, sorry to hijack the thread but I have a similar job running power to a prefabricated garden office that I need to price. 30m run of swa clipped to a fence from fuse board straight into prefabricated office with Rcd cu, the customer says he had a price from the company supplying the office to do the electrics but it was high so he wants another from me, I'm trying to gauge how much their quote would have been and am thinking of quoting £300 + materials but want to know if I'm under / over charging because I really fail when it comes to pricing jobs, any input most appreciated , cheers

Hijack away mate, but don't ask me cos I am well out with my pricing! If your quote also includes light and power within the office I would say too cheap. But if just a SWA run to a sub board I would say it's about right. I would say that the quote they got already would likely be high indeed from past experience.
