Got asked to day to quote for a "strip light" around three sides of a serving counter in a Chinese buffet. The area has a big commercial extractor hood, he either wanted lights along side it or on it. It drops down from the ceiling about 300-400mm. I don't want them on the hood so I suggested a suspended track. Its going to be 1 metre 90 degree bend 3ish meters 90degree bend then 1 metre or I have a price on GU10 fittings that drop down 315mm from the track on the ceiling rather than suspending the track. Does anyone have any other ideas ?

As it is a commercial Kitchen I would suggest T5 lighting, you can get it which looks pretty attractive, not sure what the budget is, however ask your local wholesaler for some ideas.

It has a hood similar to commercial kitchens, but its out in the main restaurant. I think he wants to light up where they put the dishes of food etc. Im not sure on the budget either really just a track with 5 GU 10s is going to be £340 with VAT but I thought he can add more lights easily later if he wants.

sounds a bit dull though, what's the lux requirement? or is it up to you to guess? find out if he wants a decent lux level or a lower comfort level. if you get it wrong it could be a can of worms, I know, I do this for a living and have learned that thought into customer requirement is paramount and not a "guess that will do" don't take that the wrong way I'm on your side, a bit more info needed though Fella.Mike

We have a indian up the road that has a similar GU10 set up but it uses LED lamps that change RGB and looks very nice :)

Maybe some lecessed righting would look good with colour change option RGB
I see you are really getting into the Chinese approach with your lecessed lighting!

I would have thought suspended LED rigid strip might be quite good they come with 90 bends as well. Colour changing if you want.
