Hi
I have a metal light that I am looking to install.
I was going to take a cable from my current 2.5mm lighting circuit through a junction box. I have a pull switch that I was going to add.
My questions are
  • What is the best way to add the pull switch?
  • Can I use a ceiling rose without the cover to make the connection at the light bearing in mind it is metal. A full ceiling rose with cover is too large for the metal top of the light to fit over (see pics)
  • I have some 2.5mm cable. Is that ok to use up to the light?

Many Thanks

Hi, slightly interested why you have a 2.5mm lighting circuit? Doubt you would get 2.5mm cable in a standard ceiling rose. Doubt you would fit a ceiling rose behind that fitting due to where the flex comes up from the lamps.
Get an electrician in.

Apologies, I have just checked again and it is a 1.5mm circuit. Would it be possible to put the 0.75 flex from the light into the roof space and then connect it to the 1.5mm cable coming off the circuit?

yes you could do that. the connection must be enclosed in something like a wagobox, above the ceiling.
