I am about to start the process of getting an ISO9001 qualification for my business.

Can anyone give me any advice on anything that may be usefull to me with regards to this and does anyone know of any reputable advisors in the North West of England who could help me through this process??

Hello, I actually stumbled upon your question while searching for a blog that gives advice on ISO 9001. I notice that your question was posted quite a while ago, but no one had been able to help. I'm not sure if I can be of much help, but I am involved partly in maintaining a Quality System for my employer (who coincidentally is an electrical engineer!).

You may have already acheived registration with a certification body by the time you're reading this, but on the off-chance the process was delayed, all I would say really is just make sure you check out the credentials of whatever C.B. you decide to go with. The guy who does ours says that although it can be a bit frustrating at first, it's worth the hassle and extra expense to contract a U.K.A.S. recognised C.B. An ISO 9001 certificate can be turned down and considered void when tendering, etc., unless it has the U.K.A.S. tick and crown symbol on it, and so the cheaper options are best avoided to be on the safe side.

Good luck!

Continuing on from my last post, this blog article explains better what I was trying to say... It's all about government officially recognising the status of the C.B. to hand out the qualifications in the first place.

Thanks very much for your help.

The timing of this post was very apt as I haven't backed up my intention to achieve and ISO accreditation as we have been very busy this year however things have slowed down lately and I have recently been in talks with a couple of consultants regarding this.
