I recently did a lighting rewire and a top floor rewire for a lady, left the top floor lights and ring dis connected along with the smoke circuit. With the downstairs lighting circuit i connected to a plug top as a temporary solution till the building work was done and I could connect them all into the new consumer unit. However the customer has had a breakdown and booted the builder off the job which obviously includes me. What should I do? Anything? report the situation? Can someone go in and continue my work and sign it off? Any ideas please.

Its not a money issue im paid up just wondering if i need to inform anyone or inform the builder.

I reckon I'd go and have a word with the customer, hopefully they only had an issue with the builder and might want you to finish. I've been in a similar situation myself in the past and was so far into the job that even though the builder quit/ got booted they still asked me to finish the job.

Sorry I dont think I came across properly. I dont want to go back as the customer is the kind that nothing is ever right so i am happy not completing the work as its her loss but was wondering if there was anything i was suposed to do. e.g register it with someone that i havnt finished.

Not that I'm aware of. The only problem I can see you might have is if you didn't certify the work. Difficult if you didn't get to finish it though!

I think you may need to contact your scheme provider and discuss it with them.

Agree with contacting his scheme provider explaining the situation and ask their advise but if the client has kicked the builder of the job she may not want anyone who has had dealings with this builder on her property not at lot he can do.
