Does anyone know anything about this product? I'm not clued up on PAT testing but I will learn.

Kewtech PATADAPTOR1: Convert 17th Edition - PAT Adaptor 1

If it does what it's supposed to do then that's a good pile of money saved.

harry

Might be a pile of money saved, but you will spend more time messing about with leads and having to know all of the pass/fail criteria. It only does the basic/minimum tests, and dosent do load/leakage, touch current and alt leakage testing.

Personally Id save up and buy a dedicated machine if you are doing this alot. My feeling is, this is for someone who occasionaly does a bit of PAT testing

Hi

Its a great product link it to your MFT or insulation tester and you just use your Continunity and insulation rages on your tester taking readings from the testers screen and record them in a log book kewtech do a pat log 2 book desighned to make it easy and quick for u.

It allowes you to do the 2 test that are compulsery

Hope this helps you

Just bought one of these myself.

I know it's only a limited range of tests that it does, but then again I'm only doing few PAT test a year for landlords renting out flats. It's not rocket science to use but it does cover the legal minimum tests.

Would I recommend it - Yes :) if you're doing small scale tests on a limited basis. If you're looking to make serious in roads into PAT testing then no, get a proper piece of kit that covers a wider range of tests.

Good luck

What makes it unsuitable for IT equipment? As most businesses these days have computers, not being able to use it with them would seem a big downer, and make it pretty much useless as far as I am concerned.

Cheers

Would have to second this too. Was in the same position a month or two ago and glad I didn't go down the adaptor route.

I can relate to that...

[FONT=&amp]The Kewtech Pat adaptor may be sufficient to get you started (I have one in my tool kit) if your only testing up to 50 items, beyond that it becomes a real pain and is much easier with a dedicated PAT.
Because the adaptor relies on an MFT (or insulation/continuity tester) to drive it, when doing the earth bond test you are limited to the output of the MFT on it's low resistance ranges, approximately 200mA. That is not ideal for testing Class 1 equipment where a hard test at a maximum of 26A is more appropriate, but it still complies with the Code of Practice and is similar to most of the battery driven hand-held PATs on the market.

Hello all.
I have a Megger pat4 dv3 but don't do much pat testing, bought it for one job a few years ago and used it a few times since.Thinking of getting one of these plug things and using the fluke 1652b to get the job done and speed up testing.
when i did use the megger i seem to spend more time typing in the data than testing, which brings me to the next question,I can't seem to find any easy cheep software for the mac or ipad for recording pat test results.
any ideas
many thanks
