Kitchen wiring

Can anyone help me - I have just had a qualified elctrician rewire a room that is to become my new kitchen. The house is a bungalow with solid floors and for all the new plugs he has only run the wire down the wall from the attic and run all the wires alond the floors and has told me the will go under all of my new units. Is this legal? Am just a bit concerned as I understood all cables / wiring had to come vertically down the wall to the sockets?

I don't know if many electricians would do it that way, for me i would have chopped and clipped down each wall to the sockets and switches etc, making it look that bit more professional and conceiling all the cables etc.

For me i think he's classed as idleness, and a bit boggie, but that might just be me....

Dan - that's how it is done by most sparks. We chase on vertical drops, use MMT 2 /4 trunking where visible (cooker bay etc) but loop cables behind the base units that are going in. That's how we manage to wire up to 2 kitchens a day (1st & 2nd fix, test etc). Councils want it doing quickly. Privately, I chase EVERYTHING
