a landlord has contacted me and wants to put some LED downlights in the kitchen in a drop down ceiling without insulation in the void.
can anyone recommend some cheap options. Prefer to have fire rated.
Edmunson did me one for about 5-6 quid(not fire rated) with Lamps (GU10 - 4 or 5 watt) about another 5.50ish.. Only thing is nearest eddies is about 25 min drive

thanks guys

I find JCC fireguard the cheapest decent quality GU10 cans round my way. If Eddies is miles away get quotes from another nearer wholesaler ? Or even look for web deals.

for gu10 leds - toolstation. they have new range from aurora, very very bright. trouble getting in the branches as they always low in stock, but they do online delivery.
cpc - whole selection of cheap and average cheap options, there were some from BG on last booklet. 650lm or something like that for a fiver.

and don't forget screwfix.

If they are the ones I'm thinking of you will get a much better price from YESSS

LEDHut and LightRabbit have some cracking offers on.

Aurora Enlite Fire Rated downlights should be sub a fiver + VAT. GU10 LED lamps...should be able to get a good brand like Crompton for 3 quid or under + VAT.

Just looked up the Lightrabbit guarantee small print. It is a 2 year guarantee only, with a 5 year warrenty available if purchased by directly by the end users only, so, lights supplied through electricians are only ever guaranteed for two years.

Quote from website after searching for details.

“When purchasing LED Spot Lights and LED Bulbs from LED Supplies (UK) Limited, LightRabbit Limited or a subsidiary, you automatically receive a 2 year warranty. This entitles you to an unlimited number of replacements for any failed LED Spot Lights and LED Bulbs for the duration of the warranty and it doesn’t cost you a single penny extra.

You also have the option to extend this warranty to 5 years, just complete our Extended Warranty form within 90 days of your purchase and return it us. If you have any questions regarding the warranty or require any further information, then please contact us on 0800 080 3201.”

these internet Chinese - direct suppliers are cheap and for the type of electrician who is happy to walk away safe in the knowledge that the materials will probably last the 12 months warranty a contractor will offer, but in the long run you will not get repeat business, have pride and faith in the equipment you install.

Screwfix have aurora for circa £7.5 with led lamp

More and more I'm finding there prices better than the big wholesalers.
Who only give the best prices to customers doing hundreds of thousands in materials

screwfixuseful if you need something on a sunday. that's if they have what you want in stockat the branch, which is rare for anything except run of the mill stuff, like cable and Lap .
