Hi all,

I have become involved in getting a new supply laid into a block of flats. It was originally a house and was subdivided into flats >20yrs ago. Whoever did this used the existing 100A incomer and had 6x 80A BS1361 DNO fuses fitted which feed 4mm MICC submains. How the DNO p,ut 80A fuses on 4mm micc, im not really sure!?

So I need to request a larger supply, Im planning on getting them to leave the existing 100A supply for 1 flat, so I need guidance on size of supply for the remaining 5 flats. To cover future demand I would think I need to allow 80A per flat as a minimum, 3 have gas, 2 are 100% electric. Each flat is privately owned by different people so have not been able to ascertain actual loading, they are all fairly spacious 2 bed flats.

Would I be ok with a 100A 3 phase supply with 2 flats per phase? or should I request full 80A per flat which would be 160A.

Any info with regards to how much diversity the DNO would apply or standard supply sizes would be most appreciated. I have only ever requested single phase supplies to single houses before, so 100A single phase does most!
