Hello I am new to this forum. My name is Luke, and I am from Oldham, Manchester.

I am currently studying City & Guilds Level 3 2365 at Oldham College as an adult learner. I am 29 years old.

I am looking for work around college.

I was kind of hoping someone on here might be looking for a trainee or a part time worker. I have on site experience as a electrician's mate (agency) working for A+B engineering, but they wasn't willing to work around my timetable at college, which was a shame. As i enjoyed my time with them. I have also worked on a Office refurb on portland street in manchester. I will attach my C.V. I am mainly looking for domestic work, but I would also take site work if offered.

Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks guys

PS. I hope my post is in the right place, apologies if not.

Worst case I'd sign on at few agency's as mate around manchester that will keep you in work , I have family friend in same situation , I managed to find him a start , asked all my sparky mates and got no answer but put on Facebook and got a reply from non electrical mate
Manchester booming at the minute

Cheers i will give it a go on facebook, and i am already registered with a lot of agencies the problem i have is they mostly want full time mates, and yes you are right about manchester booming. ---- loads of work out there haha

Gibson Ryan manchester are good company looking for men , unfortunately these company's don't seem to want to commit and invest in training people especially adult trainees like your self , take it your only on one day a week at college now
You'd probably earn better money as self employed mate 4days a week than adult apprentice cards in ?? Not sure don't quote me on it , I know a lot of lads that have gone through the self employed route and all do well

Luke I have removed your c.v . attachment due to it containing all of your personal information, as westward said it's not a good idea disclosing all that info especially on a public forum, feel free to upload it again once you have removed your name and address etc.

Cheers I'll look into them. And I am doing half day Tuesday, all day Wednesday, and an hour a on Friday at college, which is kind of a joke because nobody will take me on so far with that time table. It's hard learning as an adult but I'll get there. I was thinking the same thing about going on my own and was looking at doing a city and guilds 2392-10 course, and the 17th edition with tradeskills4u. This would allow me to self certify my own work, only in domestic for the time being but, once I did them two courses and register with NAPIT I could start earning some money. Then go on to do the 2394/95 corse once I'd have more experience. My tutor disagreed, what are your thoughts.

Good luck trying to get work.
I went through the same thing. I started college at 27 at night school.
Started my nvq 3 at 30 but found it difficult getting a job as a mature trainee. Managed to get a job eventually with a local company getting ÂŁ1 a hour over minimum wage and was the best move I did.
Keep trying all your local companies. I know agencies are a pain sometimes but stick with them if that's your only chance.
Working with other sparks is the best chance you get to gain experience so I would be hesitant about going on your own just yet.
It's not just about understanding regulations but working with different sparks you get to learn different ways of approaching problems on site even to the more basic stuff like getting a cable from one side of a house to the other in the most discreet way.

Can you afford to offer your time for free for a couple of days to some local companies. It's a good way to show how keen you are.
Once they've seen that and how good you are they might be a bit more understanding and able to work around you if they can see it as a future investment to them.

Can see why your struggling with your days in college , sounds like trying to change to day release or nights if possible , know Tameside used to put people through the courses on 2 nights a week leaving you to work 5 days
