How about we all muck in? I'm willing to help out in any way I can.
If loads of us contact them about this then they'll have to do something,or there could be some very awkward questions for them to answer.

sadly, the only thing that would get them motivated would be for members to leave in droves until they stopped enrolling these short course DI clowns.

Trouble is, there are so many of these DI clowns paying for a membership, these scams will survive. An experienced sparks just a Brucie bonus for them.

Thanks for trying anyway...

So, I don't really know what to write for the customer as to the complaint and where to send it all, the complaint to Elecsa is fine I know where to send that, but not sure about what to write so if anyone wants to chip in with bits feel free as I'll be working on it over the weekend then I can post up drafts etc...

I am totally willing to peruse this as it is a great example to use.

I myself am a DI, but only because I had to start there then I am upgrading to AC in the next couple of months. I am ashamed to be a DI, but at least I do a good job.

uks, it's not always about how you get there. it's what you do when you're there that counts.

Hate the game, not the player mate. It's the fault of the organisations that are supposed to uphold standards. Plus, don't forget we, as in the trade as a whole, have allowed this to happen so we have ourselves to blame.
It's not too late though. Done right, the r£gulatory bodies could be history within a year. All it needs is for everyone to get behind what me and Damian stuck our heads above the parapets for.
If you want details then PM me or him.

Yeah! I didn't mean to tar everybody with the same brush. TBF, what I have read of your posts, you seem to be an honest guy doing a good job, so no offence meant. There is however, loads who dont, who I doubt will ever be wiped out I'm afraid.

Dear Madam,

REF: Customer Complaint

I am writing to you concerning the sub standard work conducted by one of your scheme members. Whilst I am not an electrician, I was aware of some shoody workmanship, another qualified electrician has documented the issues as follows.

...

..

..

,.

..

.

I believe that it is the schemes responsibility for overseeing members and as such I would be happy for a senior member of your staff to visit my home, to inspect the work first hand, as I would not like you to judge the installation purely based on the enclosed photographs.

It is my understanding that you will expect the "electrician" who conducted this work be allowed to rectify this work. Whilst I understand you wishing to allow the electrician to rectify his work I will only concent to this if you provide representation from your governing body to be onsite to oversee said works to ensure the installation is brought up to the necessary standards.

Failing this would you please confirm the process by which I can make a claim against your organisation for the costs incurred engaging a new contractor to undertake remedial works.

......

Yours sincerely

....

That should do for starters!

I don't hate the players Trev. A lot of these guys I guess were sold amazing stories of mega bucks, working for yourself etc from really good salesmen. Who can blame them TBH.

Thanks Murdoch, I'll get on with this tomorrow at some point, Trev has suggested I carry out a full EICR too, so I'll go back on Tuesday, this should then flag up anything else as it really was a flying visit that I got carried away with, you know what it's like when you find something, then something else, gets you all excited!

That letter is looking good, I'll fill the gaps in, as for the complaint, should It be sent straight to that person or via their complaints procedure?

Always use the proper procedure, that way if something goes wrong then no one can say you haven't followed protocols. You could also copy Ms Clancy in on the correspondence of course.

In bold!

Not that she'll reply herself as she can't be seen to be circumventing things either but it would be great to be a fly on the wall when this shyte was brought to her attention.

Truly shocking work and its an insult to electricians to call this man one,not even a "competent person".I can tell how well or bad the rest of the install will look by glancing inside the CU and that tells the story for all the rest, appalling.I also have renewed registration and will have the usual annual visit from elecsa.I shall highlight this thread for sure.I have seen some real shambles of work lately and every week someone new appears, when your up against people doing CU upgrades for £250 you can imagine the quality of work/testing.
