Old film stuff

Just loading a film into one of my cameras and came across some of my father's old stuff.
A metal self loading cassette with a label saying what it is loaded with and an unused Kodachrome film with it's metal can. The film in those days was bought process paid I wonder if Kodak will still process it for me?

There are still companies around who will develop film. Don't take it to the local Boots store though as they may look at you funny

I send them online not cheap but don't get through too many.

Kodak went bust in 2012, the current Kodak company was started after that with no liabilities from the former.

Lucrative business now days to get hold of old film and render it down for the silver content, Lucy Housewares in Portsmouth would re-cycle the plastic and the Silver, that was over twenty years ago, can only think its even more lucrative now with the price of silver.

Yeah the name ended up being used for the production of some really tacky digital cameras etc. Much the same way as Goodmans went and several others.

Just bust my lens hood after having looked after it for 20 odd years, tripod tipping over luckily into soft grass and a new one is pushing £100
Oh well keeps someone in business.

I've been messing around with lenses lately. Bought some Canon and Tamron lenses with fungus or zoom not working. Some are easy to strip to clean or fix, others are a pain. Been enjoying stripping them though. Don't suppose any of you know how to program an 'attiny13' so that I can re-chip some Sigma lenses to work on newer Canon cameras ?

Someone is doing exactly that on Ebay for considerably less but they don't have the correct markings and that will irk me. Ordered an as new one now coming all the way from Japan.

When I worked for Kodak's medical imaging, back in the day, processing Xray film was done using chemicals, just like film in a camera, but on a much larger scale. The sites often had silver recovery systems fitted in the chemical setup to recover the silver from the processed film, and in some busy A+E depts they would have a regular slot for us to come in, remove the silver recovery filters, and they would be sent off for recovery, and depending on the silver value at the time, could be quite lucrative. I'm pretty sure anything branded Kodak now is just a licensing deal.
