Outdoor Junction Box with wire from back

Hello,

I am looking for an outdoor junction box for a night flood light. Most boxes I see have openings from sides of the box only. I would like the junction box to be installed on top of the wire coming out from the wall and have one wire going out from the top to light. Any ideas which box would be suitable?

wiska boxes, but you'd need to drill the back entry hole, then seal between box and wall with silicon or some other sealer.

Great. Thank you. Didn't know if they made any with a back entry hole that was weather proof. If I have to drill my own and seal, then no problem.

I use a one entry conduit box, glue a short length (just long enough to fit in two fittings) of conduit into the hole and then glue a female converter onto that and put a gland in the end. If you've got good quality PVC cement knocking around, this may be cheaper and seems to work just as well. Drill a hole in the back and then ring it in sealant and screw it to the wall.

And as you plan to exit upwards don't forget to drill the drain hole

I wouldn't use this method for top entry... in fact I wouldn't use top entry at all outside. Always try for bottom entry to minimise the chances of water ingress.

top entry would be OK if box was mounted under soffit. otherwise bottom entrty with drip loop in cable is advised.

Oh sorry I misread the original.. Yes wiska box with compression glands no problem.. choose your size and colour!

but OP wants rear entry so the cable coming through the wall is not shown externally. a short length of 20mm pvc consuit throuh wall and protruding 1/4" into the box or with an adaptor, coupled with sealant between box and wall is my preference

Where the situation permits I'll sometimes fit a 20mm nylon gland if the hole behind the fitting is big enough to accept it.
