What has brought me here is a question about the nature of the supports inside an oven for a heating element. I'd appreciate advice.
I ordered a new element for the oven base but when I fitted it one side doesn't quite fit completely into a metal 'rest' bracket welded into the oven base. Not by much, it's still supported. My concern is that over time the element will stretch and fail to be supported on that side.
My question is: can I use bare wire to fix the element a little better to the bracket or fabricate an additional bracket to attach to - and supplement the existing bracket? Am I right in assuming it's a bad thing to have a lot of metal in contact with the element and is copper wire OK to use? Thanks. Regards Dan
