Discuss PAT test white goods? in the Electrical Testing & PAT Testing Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

That is a naive opinion. Subjecting an appliance to a 500v dc by way of an approved PATester is a non destructive test and should be of no concern.
Hey. You may be right. The blue LED light is working again . Maybe there was an intermittent fault before i did the test .. Really annoying. I did not notice if light was working before the test. Lucky its in the place where i live.

Some people suggest half voltage for ir test where there are electronics. My machine dose not have that option. Hence will not test. I will just do an earth continuity

Not a good way to look at testing.

And as I mentioned before, PAT testers do not apply 500V between live and neutral.

Any appliance that cannot withstand a suitable test, is not fit for use. One might as well say that electronic goods should never be plugged in, because the AC power might damage them. I routinely test all kinds of sensitive laboratory and studio electronics and in 30 years I have never damaged anything. And I only use soft tests where specifically necessary due to the equipment configuration.
