Discuss RCD keeps tripping....Help needed. in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

Ok I'll fess up....Well my normal electrician is on holiday but before he went he said he was happy for me to change the fuse box thingymebob under the stairs and he will sign it off when he gets back....I mean how hard can it be its only 3 wires ain't it. I've just finished it and switched it on and it keeps tripping. I couldn't test it as I don't posses a tester and all the testing malarkey is overrated any way. I've just solved it any way... I removed the thick green and yellow from the fuse box thingymebob and now it's all back on. Thanks for your advice everyone much appreciated. I'm now off to use the electric shower I fitted today as well ;)

Panic over normal service has resumed in the Leesparkykent household! Narrowed it down to the socket behind the washing machine, few water marks on the wall where the waste has been leaking. Took the socket off and waters been getting in. New o ring on the waste, new socket and jobs a goodun.

The rcd at my house has tripped three times, once when after five years the kettle decided it was allergic to water even though Dualit convinced me it would still be boiling water at my wake. The other two times when my other half failed to spot the bright orange cable laying across the grass whilst cutting said grass both times on a Saturday afternoon during an important horse race. The second time just rushed into the garage to reset hoping all was well on the lawn.
