Regular blowing of 13a fuse.

Hello

I’m a floor fitter looking for a bit of advice.

I’ve recently bought a floor grinding machine that has a standard 13a plug. When the machine is up and running, it runs at around 2kw. My problem is when I first fire it up, the motor quickly draws a load more power and regularly blows the 13a fuse.

Any suggestions for how I can overcome this regular blowing of fuses?

can you post a picture of the machine name plate?
it should have its electrical requirements on it.

Was the machine bought new or 2nd hand?
(I’m thinking of things like worn motor brushes, or a fault in the coil causing the motor to stall in certain positions. Or maybe simply friction if the shaft isn’t clean)

im thinking it might be a 16A machine and someone's put a 13A plug on it

2kW sounds like a lot for a piece of equipment like that.

If you cant find the rating plate, could you give us the brand name and model number.

Having done some work on this type machine I'm sure these need to be started and allowed to get up to speed without the grinding discs in contact with the floor
