Installing a door bell which needs a 24vac supply.
I normally use the din rail ransformer however the client want this door bell supplied from the local plug top.
I can find plenty of AC24v plug in supply units however none of the leads are long enough.
I would like to chop the plug, crimp and extend with bell wire.
THe question is before I buy a 24v plug is adapter has anyone simply chopped the plug off and extended with cimps before

Most of these come with a connector at the end. Just buy the mating part to it and solder the wires to it.

What bell push does he have at the moment battery or transformer powered as spending £150 on a Ring then having it powered by a trailing lead seems pointless, I would rather go the extra mile and have it installed properly and powered from a step down CSU transformer.

I've just fitted a Ring Doorbell to my house and it was 8-24v AC . Are you sure you're reading the instructions right? I was thinking of using an old bell transformer I have that puts out 12v, but then read that the doorbell can be charged via the enclosed USB lead and lasts 6-12 months on the charge, depending on how it's used (always on live video drains the battery faster). So I didn't bother. When it gets low, a few hours charging on the USB will be enough.

But if I did choose to power it permanently, the old transformer and some bell wire would be sufficient.
