Ladies and Gents, trainees only to answer please.

Here are some questions that crop up in City and Guilds exams, and they are all about the basics, so if you don't know the answers, then you need to find them out. The last 2 are EAL NVQ3 knowledge questions.

  1. Which two pieces of equipment must you use to prove dead?
  2. Which non statutory document must the test leads comply with for the equipment in question 1.
  3. What are the 3 specific requirements for the test probe tips as laid down in the non statutory document in question 2
  4. On the load side of a single phase distribution board isolator, between which terminals would you test for dead.
  5. What would you do with the equipment in question 1, before using it, other than proving it works properly? (This also applies to any other test instrument)
  6. Above what voltage do the test leads need to comply with the non statutory document in question 2 and why?
  7. How many LIVE conductors are there in a single phase installation?
  8. Complete the following sentence. Lock off, Tag off, Post a notice, and ****** *** ***.
  9. If you discover someone who has suffered electric shock, lost consciousness then recovered, what must you do?
  10. If you discover someone having an electric shock, and you can't isolate them from the supply how would you safely remove them from the danger?

These will keep you busy for a day or 3, answers later in the week when you have had a chance to find out, but have a go at them. Enjoy......

The non stat doc in question 2 is free to download once you have found out what it is, and i suggest you do and print it off for future reference.

Cheers..............Howard
