Does anyone know which regulations a Part P competent person self-certification scheme such as the NICEIC, Elecsa or Napit have to work to? Is it EN 45011, BS EN ISO 17065 or is it both?

Also, are either of these standards enforced by statutory legislation?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide a clear and definitive answer! It's very hard trying to get one anywhere else lol!

if he does. 3 different people will give him 3 different answers. the niceic don't know it's arse from it's elbow.

Have you tried asking here.........
NICEIC | About Us | Contact us ?!?!

Exactly! I've been in touch with all three by writing and one just doesn't want me to know and two don't seem to know themselves. UKAS are pretty unclear as well and these are supposed to be the independant assessors of the scam scemes. I'm hitting dead ends everywhere I go.

you`v more chance of plattin pis than getting them to admit owt damian...

anyway, why do you need to know this. i thought we worked to 7671.

I'd have thought (hoped) that the DTI would have the definitive answer - just hope they don't refer you to the BSi (who operate the Part P component of their Electrical installers Kitemark scheme also under ACAS)!

the best way here is to just carry on digging (quietly)...and not to draw unnecessary attention....once you have enough....then you get support/backing and then you go get em...

After much questioning I eventually got through to someone from the technical department at UKAS who explained exactly what regs they are assessed against. Seems as UKAS are their accredditing body I thought it best I spoke to them and not the criminals I'll be fighting! Lol

Absolutely, that is my intention. I have been careful about what I say because what is happening is quite significant, I just hope it goes our way. Anyone who wants to know more is free to PM me tho :)

Try your nearest University library.
I used to go and look at the occasional BS.
If you can join, save you a fortune having to buy the ones you need.

I do already have the regs, I got 4 sets of different regs relating to different areas of product certification but wasn't entirely sure which set/s I should be paying more attention to. The scope in each set of regs was vague (for my eyes at least) at the very best. I was really surprised that UKAS let me have them free of charge. I've got electronic copies but from looking online I figure I've got about £200 worth of documentation at my disposal now! Anyway, that's me for now. I've a lot of reading to do! Peace and love my pedigree chums :D
