Hi

Sooooo, "my showers not working" call out today. New 10mm was put in at the same time as a new CU (NOT labeled at all by previous long time spark )
Knew it would be the isolator before I looked. Too much copper showing inside IMO. Arc across and one terminal really loose. Nip it up boy!
The MK isolator was shot as tested by me so went to replace with a 50A crabtree - comes in its own cone shaped surface mount - I like em; but big mistake. Old partress was fixed in corners with plasterboard fixings! No noggins as a false ceiling. I tried to put wood up and fix either side before fitting the new isolator - (like when repairing a whole in plasterboard) but it just kept pulling screws through like its damp. Anyone have any idea how to fix?
TIA
Dave

Thanks for your replies. Correct Cad. But still a poor job if I go with another on a patress. Can't sink a box either as the PB is to weak. Nope TQ it has the old celing 2 in above that I can get above. Hmmmmm

Can you use butterfly fixings? I've used them on those Crabtree's before, especially as you know people are going to be tugging on them.

Can you not cut out the old ceiling above the plasterboard (from above) sufficient to fix a bit of ply directly on top of the plasterboard?...this will provide a good fixing and support the weak plasterboard behind the switch.

Update :: OK Job done. Access above was not allowed so I put a couple of bits of tile battern in. Had to drill before screwing to stop the screws pulling through. I think the artex and moisture made the surface soft. Still done now. Thanks again lads.
