Smart home install containment

Doing a install for lighting specialist company,which involves Cat 7 cabling,quite a few to various points.
The engineer wants it put in the floor,before the actual floor goes down.
Seems a good idea but he’s on about 25mm plastic conduit,I’ve been looking at the plans,& I really dont think it’s a good idea.
There’s a lot of cabling,at least 4 Cat 7 to tv area plus co ax for TVs.
I’m more inclined to put 2x2 plastic trunking in,there will be no chance if renewing these cables,or putting loop or through boxes in,& no acess to it once the floor is down.
It’s the best route but not ideal,any thoughts on containment for this.

Just out of curiosity, what is the floor structure & thickness? Is it suitable to put 2" trunking in?

Concrete,celotex,underfloor heating pipes & screed about 100mm thickness,so yeah 2 x 2 would be ok,fitted on concrete .

Stick to whats specified if there are any issues you stuck to the spec and did what you were asked to do. Don't complicate your life.

Sounds like there is going to be underfloor heating.

highlight your suggestions to the company /designer .
If they don't listen or change as you suggest and something happens in the future you have previously pointed it out.
Go with their specs as that's your contract. sometimes I find these specs can originate from the
Architect on drawings and they don't understand the full effects re other cables, or its their junior that's completed the drawings.

I have recently seen architects specifying 5 amp round pin socket outlets for standard lamps, you go into a shop and try and get a standard lamp with a 5 amp plug on it...

Yea, not really getting enough info,underfloor maybe the best option,there’s no real other way,it’s barn conversion,hiding cables are a nightmare,1st of power & lighting have already been installed,he’s suggested conduit in the floor,my concern would be accessibility after,but you could say the same about the other wiring & routes.

I think the real problem I have or anticipate with underfloor conduit is the drag factor on pulling in at 3 or 4 or more cables. A couple of bends and you are in trouble I would say. Seems like you might have to deal with several bends usually anyway. Cauchemar!

25mm tubes with slight bends is fine but when you are getting to 90° fit adaptable boxes if you feel the pull is going to be difficult and placing stress on the cables.
