Smeg A4-5 Access to replace controls

I hope this is the correct thread.

I have to replace the main oven selector switch in a Smeg A4-5 cooker. I can't find a proper service manual and want to check about access. It's not immediately clear whether access to the switch would be from the hobs above or whether (having removed the front escutcheon) you release all the fixing screws from the controls (which presumably are mostly then held in place from the rear) and then remove the main mounting plate holding the controls.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
