Doing a house extension and have a small query. We all know you can have as many sockets as sockets in 100m2 as you like but is that 100m2 the total floor area of the extension or is it the area that will have sockets in it. The extension is roughly 12 x 12 m on the first floor = 144m2 but has 3 bathrooms and cupboards etc that would make it less than 100m2.
We put in 2 rings anyway but what are your thoughts!!

Well iots all a guestimation anyway aint it!

its really the area 'it serves', so if there are no sockets in a room, you could reasonable discount that room

i would do what you did, if its on the borderline, put another ring in, or a radial to some of rooms even!

the area your serving although the regs arent too clear for instance what about the distance from your db to the area served
we three seem to be in agreement, when the numbers are close add on to be sure

how big is your mains board???

do you have an upstairs ring, a downstairs ring, kitchen ring plus 2 new ones in the extension.

Sorry with the extension the total first floor area approx 144m2. And rewiring rest of house as well so will have downstairs ring, kitchen ring and 2 upstairs rings. Plus new fuse board so have as much room as garage wall will allow!!! Nice knockers by the way!!!
