I have just had a good quote for 17 Sanyo HIT-N235SE10 panels and a Sunny Boy 4000TL Inverter but hear good things about the Solar Edge Inverter and was wondering if I should pay £550 extra for the Solar Edge.

I have no shading and directly South facing so is the Solar Edge not worth the extra or will it perform better than the 4000TL over the lifetime of the system?

Just going off the Solar Edge info it seems to be a better inverter ie maximising performance from each individual panel and setting for most per panel where as a mismatch in same panels on a string will have a normal inverter setting everything to the lowest performing panel.

That is just how it reads to me and being a newbee I guess I know no different.

only problem if solaredge power mppt boxes fail in 25years of fits will need replacing as inverter has no built in mppt tracker , expensive
power boxes from tigo or national semiconductor with tl inverter if they fail inverter will still work , powerbox still need to be removed and reconnected to inverter
sma will be here for a very long time , solaredge new pv companies failing by the week
