having been to a hotel with a fault on a lights and open and close system on a circuit .I had fixed the fault in which was the lighting .and Elvis left the building. about 1 hour after me left the building .
the customer rings up the entry will not work .well it work for going out
back to faulty towers again .
now this card reader has a fault on it .and want read any cards
I have now trying to get a replacement card reader I have posted the reader
so any of the gang to point me in the write direction.

I need the one like this its gone ape . I puzzles me when a fault happens and something else goes wrong you always get the blame .its got to be some metal in it .cause some one will rip it off the wall .

Get a company that specialises in door access etc to sort it. I doubt the hotel would be too happy to wait whilst you search the internet to find and source a replacement unit that could take a few days or longer to arrive, and might not even be the problem.

may be you are correct .
I ring them in the morning and tell them the bad news .if I was not for the fault on the light out side it would not happen you should have seen the way some body wired the out side lights straight from 16amp mcb no fuse spur knout. and this a hotel .

Did you get power back onto the door entry system?
Are you sure its the reader and not the opening part of the system?
(I've only installed a card reader system with a magnetic lock, not a fully automatic opening door)
Does the cards make a noise when used? An accept, or different reject beep noise?

I had to change the mag lock to a "fail safe" lock rather than a "fail secure"
The difference being when there was a powercut, the door would unlock instead of locking. Which, on a caravan site toilet block was the preferred choice.

If its a card reader there will be another box ox tricks somewhere that you may of switched off, or cleared its memory.
Could be a little box with a keypad, could be an ethernet connection to a pc, but there will be a way of programming the cards somewhere, which I have seen hooked into the lighting circuit sometimes.....

Is that a link between GND and NC? Doesn't look right to me.
+12v and GND gives the reader its power.
The switching part is between COM and NC.. Normally Closed until card is introduced, then opens for a time.

Usually no connection between the power and the switching parts?

(I cant be 100% sure, I don't know the system you've got there, or seen a diagram)
