Hi, I have a wired alarm system with a Securitech Active 5 control panel and Lynteck Vortex bellbox. It has worked fine for many years until recently when I noticed this fault.

When the alarm is set and entry is made through the front door entry route, the internal sounder activates after the set delay but the external sounder and strobe don't activate. Any other sensor correctly activates the external sounder and strobe when triggered, it's just the front door that doesn't.

I've gone through the control panel test procedure and everything works fine including the external sounder and strobe. I've done a walk test and the front door sensor is working fine.

Any suggestions as to why this one circuit doesn't activate the bellbox would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Problem solved - I had been testing the system by simply setting it and leaving the front door open until the alarm went off. I hadn't realised that the door had to be closed for the system to be fully armed and then triggered by the opening of the door.

just when you think you've got yer 'ed round technology, it does a double take and bites you in the arse.
