Just thought I ought to share with you that I passed mine :D

I decided to keep it quiet as I was a little nervous but I really shouldn't have been as the comments I received were very satisfying.

My first impressions of Elecsa are "Very impressed". I will also say that if anyone in the South West is due their assessment and know that it will be Richard Giddings doing the honours then relex. He calms the situation and pretty much makes the assessment feel like a relaxing conversation. His enthusiasm helps boosts your confidence which makes the whole experience a lot more pleasant.

I did not stick my head in the books at all on the nights leading up to my afternoon appointment. Instead I chose to flick through my on-site guide and building regs just an hour before to refresh my memory on RCD disconnection times x1 & x5, earthing and bonding, chases and notches etc in walls and joists etc etc

I was pleased that I only received one "observation"

I didn't wait to be asked to show safe Isolation, I took it upon myself to demonstrate it and made a point of saying so and talked through my actions ;)

I was asked to perform Ze, PSCC AND PEFC tests followed up with a ring End to End Continuity test and then RCD functional testing on the cooker circuit (I used the Auto method). Before testing I made sure I showed that I had checked my batteries, I explained what setting I would be selecting on my meter and I also stated how much I love juggling the leads whilst nulling the leads on my Fluke MFT :D

I was happy to receive positive remarks all the way through, everything is done in such a friendly and enthusiastic manner which allows you to concentrate on what you know you can do. One thing I was very happy about is the fact that I was not rushed in the slightest and I did not break any of my habits. Testing IS methodical so I kept it that way.

*** If you have a procedure (putting leads back/changing tips over etc as I do) then stick to it. Do exactly as you would anywhere else.***

I'm sure by reading this you'll be able to tell that I am very pleased even after two days and plenty of Vodka on both Thursday night and last night to celebrate :D

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone on the forum, especially those in my friends list. The real life scenarios that I read day in day out for hours on end have helped my no end.
