Hi,

My house came with a couple of dozen TP24 downlights fitted, they are GU10 with the long stems (74mm)

I’ve found them very expensive to replace (about£4.50 each)

I have bought some Sylvania equivalents from Amazon, and whilst the stem pins look identical they will not turn into the TP24 fitting.

Is there a workaround or am I stuck with TP24?

Ta

Mick

Can you show a pic of both lamps or bulbs.
All I can remember is that one had a square cap and the other has a 45deg diagonal cap I think this also had something to do with the two types of halogen lamps one with heat forward and the other out the back of the lamp I am sure I will be corrected on that somewhere if wrong.

the last tp24 gu10 i had too replace i found that they have a nipple on the bottom of lamp holder so other makes of lamps wont fit

We used to fit the L/E fluorescent GU10 lamps to comply
with the energy efficiency for new homes and the downlights were deeper and had a cage inside so that just those lamps could be fitted (in the days before LED was what it is now) it looks like these are designed to replace them is it a cage that is stopping the lamp or the lamp holder itself.

Can’t see anything that is stopping it to be honest.

I’ve started the return process through Amazon, I’ll just have buy the TP24’s and swallow the price

The Sylvania ones are a 3rd of the cost
