TT systems and eicrs ?

Evening all

If you were to carry out an eicr and you came across a TT system what is the procedure and required tests....I can see how you would get a Ze reading etc but how in an existing installation do you get the earth road resistance RA....as I can imagine that rods might be next to concrete or anything and so the 3 lead method and spacing out would seenm impossible

Cheers for any answers as this is something that wasn't really touched on in college and I've never come accross tt systems in the working environment ?

You can either preform a Ze of the installation using a loop tester or the Ra test procedure, there is no requirement to carry out both tests, the former being the easier/preferred method as it’s more convenient.

I think in practice the only reason for looking at doing Ra tests on a normal EICR would be if you got a really bad Ze without any obvious sort of reason and needed to show where the fault was.

you need to read guidance note 8 earthing arrangement's .
