HI
I have made a good deal for a set of used 16 panels a 4kw two sting inverter and various isolation switches.
I am not sure yet if I can get all 16 panels to fit on my roof or the way the panels are to be connected to the inverter.
I don't have optimisers but I have a clear view of the south.

if I cant get all 16 panels on my roof will it affect the inverter?
do I need optimisers?
what is the best sequence from panel to panel to each string on the inverter?

I will upload the type of panels once I take photos
the inverter is a solar river 4400tl

hi
I forgot to ask if its better to have optimisers which ones are compatible?thx

1) Don't bother with optimisers
2) The inverter will work with fewer panels
3) Connect them in two roughly balanced strings
4) Samil (the manufacturer) has gone bust
5) If you don't know what you're doing, find someone competent to help
6) Don't fall off the roof or electrocute yourself

hi
what solar cable do i need and does it have to be copper?thx

where will i get a fair deal when buying the cables?

DNO will need to be informed for a grid tied system.G83 in this case. Also if using less panels and they are all in same orientation, check max string input voltage on inverter, you may be able to run all the panels in series. More efficient as will get to start up voltage level earlier than two parallel strings.

will i need to buy a certain type of breaker to connect to the grid?

hi
I want to make sure when I get around to wiring the panel to the manual breakers then to the inverter I get it right.

is the cable with the red seal the positive? shown in my photo.
this goes through te manual breaker to the positive on my inverter?
when I tested the panel with a multimeter putting the red lead in the red sealed cable it did not show a minus reading.

can anyone recomend someone to check my install and tie it to the grid?
should be ready next week.
im in tyne and wear.

or what is a reasonable price i should expect if i have to look for someone

I managed to get 15 of 16 panels mounted. 15 x 245w can I use a local electrician to connect me to grid?
or does it have to be done by a solar qualified fitter?

Speak to your local electrian he will be able to help you or find one that can. You'll need to comply with part P so best bet is to get an electrian in to RCD your CU with type A or better B as well as appropriate breaker 16A or which ever is most suited. Then inform your DNO
