Very appreciated forum. Washer earth trips RCCB unless it is rocked back & forwards aggressively. This is a struggle. One brush had worn excessively and tripped and changed. I wonder if there is excessive wear due to uneven commutator causing a pile of debris bridging to brush housing? Any thoughts? Thanks

Sounds like you have the answer. How old is the machine?
Hi, Thanks for replying. Are you basing that on empirical knowledge? I am not confident in my diagnosis hence not yet motivated to struggle to rearrange my pokey kitchen to get it out from under and look for evidence. May be a resistance reading across the plug before and after will clinch it. After a wash cycle, removing the plug can cause a trip too. Washer is an adopted orphan with no known history but I guess 15-20 years.
