Good evening all! I have been asked for some professional advice and would like to pick your collective brains.
A client has been advised by his architect to place the washing machine in the bathroom.
I have been reading the 17th which bans sockets within 3 metres of zones.
Can the design be made to work if the washing machine is taken outside the zone by boxing in?
Second idea is provide power via a SELV circuit with the source being outside the zone.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

More famous for it's market and black puddings :drool5: .

Oh, and being in between two reet brill towns.

Rochdale....where I learnt to talk proper.....

....and Bolton....where I learnt to speak even properer.:cool4:.....and down a few:26:

Ah yes ... Bolton .. famous for Fred Dibnah ............ great bloke.

Thank you for all your insights and train picsnothing better than catching up on your posts when stepping of my plane in Buenos Aries.

Technically my clients architect is right and a washing machine can be installed as long as it's ipx4 with a power source outside zones. Personally I'll recommend a larger shower and put the bloody thing in the kitchen.
Turns out the potential adverse sound in the open plan kitchen disturbed the architect design sensitivities - hasn't he heard of the LG direct drive

Well we do aim to please - it's just a bit unfortunate that we often miss !! :toilet:

Aye, a drink or two with Fred in the past. Used to park his steam (and that is STEAM) roller outside the SGT (Sweet Green Tavern) in town, neck a good few pints and then rumble off towards Bury road. Never got done for speeding but I'm sure there was the odd wobble.

Hi yarcyk For a shower pump under the bath to be outside of the zone it has to only be accessible using tools. I'm sure many baths have pumps that are accessible without tools - dodgy bits of plastic and mdf. I can imagine the reg was created to stop little prying fingers of young ones playing with the pumps electrics.
