Spoke to the insurance company yesterday and it looks like the other party has admitted liability, they will speak to the engineers as I believe they will offer me a "payment in lieu" as then I can go and get the car repaired myself at the garage I want to use.

The assessor said that is what he will write in his report and as my car is a Japanese import the bumper needs to be shipped from Japan.

When I spoke to them yesterday it seems to be going down this route, once I have accepted and been paid then they don't care who I use.

Money to be paid in to my account, £2223.24 headlight I "think" will be polished out so just need to order the bumper.

I think what saved my arse was the dash cam footage even though it wasn't so clear cut but I think the claims assessor for the other party saw the footage and realised there was no paint in them wasting their time arguing about it.

If there was no dash cam evidence it would have been a 50/50 claim, I am so glad that I installed the dash cam and hard wired it in.

I'm surprised but pleased for you, I guess his irresponsibility shown in the footage overrode any technical arguments... I agree your dashcam has just paid for itself.

I think "luck" was on my side in this case otherwise it would have been a 50/50 claim and I would have had to pay a £350 excess payment and had a claim against me.
