What’s the best setup for a system that has a heating system with existing radiators but a wet underfloor heating system is being added to a new extension. I will need a 3 channel programmer I assume? The plumber mentioned having it on all the time but just working on/off the independent stat in extension. How is it best to tie the manifold in to existing system.

You could put a programmable thermostat on the new UFH and leave the existing programmer for the rads.
Depends if the customer has a preference for a more 'integrated' or smart approach; ie one control interface for all.
The below link might help - you don't have to use the products mentioned, but all these assume existing system is S-plan.

3C in the link works well for small extensions. .I have a conservatory and two en suite bathrooms using these Danfoss valves, and saves the expense of UFH manifolds, circulation pump, mixer and wiring centre.
On the other hand, 1C is not a good idea at all with screeded UFH. The characteristics of UFH and conventional radiators are completely different - rads are heated when you need them, but UFH has a 24 hour lag.
