Discuss What safe contractor accreditation shall I get in the Business Related area at ElectriciansForums.net
I am already an NICEIC approved contractor. Like most companies I'm only after getting safe contractor accredited as certain organisations stipulate that you have iti would have thought that niceic or napit was more appropriate.
I used to be ISO9001 (UKAS accredited) which was alot of paperwork but you can get over the line with a copy and paste approach! I'd say I have the paperwork just to change dates and get approved as it won't be as involved. I just wanted to know what clients generally preferred. I'm thinking constructionlineAs well as the additional cost of "membership" of whichever scheme you choose, take into account your time that will be needed for the documentation to satisfy the scheme of your safe working practices.
When I looked into this a few years back (Safe Contractor) I concluded I'd need up to a week for all the documentation, and that wasn't immediately obvious. A letting agent was suggesting I join with a reduced fee of £300 for the first year, so I could have the pleasure of continuing to work for them. I estimated the true costs counting all my time would be about 5x that. Needless to say, I declined.
But I'm a (mostly) 1-man company and also don't like working for organizations who take a long while to pay. Your circumstances might be different.
