I've recently completed the 2356-61 and some people are saying I need to do the AM2 and some people are saying I don't with this type of nvq that I have done.. Just wondering if anyone can shed any light (no pun intended) on this for me??
Cheers Lee

I was under the impression to be a fully qualified electrician you will need AM2

and i thought that AM2 was a step before nvq3.

that's more for mature sparks who have not got nvq3. OP has it, so a call to JIB should get him an answer within about 3 months.

You don't need the am2 with that nvq to get an electricians gold card. If it was the 2356-99 or 2357 then you would of needed to of completed the AM2 to be issued with your cert.

I did that nvq I believe. Although it was electrotechnical principles, not services. Assume yours is just a newer name, I still had to do the am2 to be fully qualified.

If you already have your NVQ3 cert then logic would say that no you don't need your AM2, as the AM2 is part of the requirements to get the NVQ3.
I have just checked and I had to include my AM2 cert in my NVQ portfolio. My NVQ is a 2356-31.

I never done the NVQ level 3, because it did not exist 37 years ago. lol Does that mean I am not qualified.? Got my A and B, an that's good enough for me. Did not do the C course, could not stand another year at college.!
