Wont that put you over 4Kw or is that not rellevent in your case?

I have heard good things about them as Denmans were trying to sell them to me and the spec sheet etc looks good.

It isn't relevant. What matter is what the inverter is capable of throwing out - it doesn't matter what powers it.

It would be 3.9kw am looking at fronius 3.6tl or a diehl platinum 4301 s bith kick out 16 a max anyone used diehl

we have fitted 6 x fronius 3.6tl, seem fine to date, touch wood !!! with 4kw os sanyo 250 panels, comparing the sanyo panels to some that are half the cost we are not gaining hardly any extra, this is against the same shading, orientation etc. Lesson learnt, dont pay over the odds for panels !!!

We've fitted lots of the 250w panels, very good in the sun. Due to the pricing I'd go with REC - which are better in the lower light conditions.

Done a couple of Diehl inverters - blooming heavy lumps, but seem ok - the one thing i didnt like is when starting up you have no idea what its doing, unlike a fronius that has a "countdown" timer the Diehl doesnt, nothing on the screen to indicate its waiting 180 seconds - that bugged me.

16 x 260= 4160KW, as stated it can be restricted through the inverter, just take care what you put as the declared amount on the MCS certificate.
Over 4KWP will put you into a different FIT tariff, whatever that may be....

Don't think so. 4160 WATTS in panels is not <4kw it is the next band no matter what on the inverter

Yes, I thought that any part of the system above 4KW risked falling on the wrong side of FiT payment bands even if the output from the inverter was restricted to 4KW or less.

Due to irritable District Network Operators in some parts of the UK, it is best to consider 3.7KW as the limit for any part of the system.

Even irritable DNOs except an inverter with up to 16A output, have your 4kw of panels but use an inveter that is limited to or doesn't output more than 16A

That was what I was told, Keep panels below 4kw and use a 16A limited inverter.....Higher rate tariff and G83 compliant.

What is the current tariff for >4kw?

Remember DNO considerations are different from FITs banding. A DNO wants anything above 16A prenotified - it has nothing to do with FITs payments.

The issue with FITs payments and TIC/DNC are discussed elsewhere and I'm coming around to the idea that the maximum output of your system is what is important and not the total installed panel output of the system.

The recent written statement from DECC "clarifying" the FIT situation (or rather describing a backup plan to introduce the 21p rate on the 3/3 if they lose the court case), did initially list the bands as being based on DNC, but this was quickly corrected to list the bands as being based on total installed capacity.
