Hi ..right where do i start ..ill do the best i can !! i have an extension lead and in it are plugged a fridge , a separate small freezer , permanently ..and i use a small table lamp in the same extension also a vacuum cleaner ..have done this for many years no problems ....however last night something went POP !! [like the sound of a plastic pop bottle when you squeeze it and it pops out again] and i could smell something burning ..the socket that the hoover was plugged into on the extension was black ...well i thought it was possibly the extension lead as it was quite old , so today i brought a new one £15 ...only for the exact same thing to happen again POP !! and black around the hoover plug .....i then plugged in the hoover 'DIRECTLY ' [no extension lead this time ]into another wall socket at the other side of the room ..again POP!! now a black wall socket and burning smell ..ps i cannot open the plug on the vacuum as its a moulded one ..

The plug is damaged and needs to be replaced. Any socket that it has been used with also needs to be replaced, otherwise the problem will spread around your house like an infectious disease, with other plugs that have been used with a faulty socket also becoming damaged, and then affecting any other sockets that it is plugged into.
It's impossible to say whether the extension lead socket or the cleaner plug was the first to fail, but in general, the sockets on an extension lead are of a lesser quality than those fixed to a wall.

i have put a new fuse in the hoover and this time it switched on ...however there must be a problem somewhere ...is it the wiring in the house or the hoover at fault ..

Have you replaced the hoover plug?

no its a molded on plug ..you can not open it up , only the fuse is acessable

It needs to be cut off and replaced by someone competent to do it.
